Imagine memorizing a poem and entering a room with six teachers sitting behind a table judging your performance of reciting the poem. As you begin to recite, another teacher asks you to stop until she has the camera ready to record your performance. Thirteen Hansen High Schools experienced this scenario at today's Poetry Out Loud contest.
I consider myself among the fortunate because I had the opportunity to observe our students stretching themselves. More than one stated that they did not want to do this before reciting their poem. However, they did. They faced their fear and performed. Thank you to all of the students who performed and Mrs. Eastman for nudging you out of your comfort zone!
